It’s part of their decision-making. If management or your customers understand what you contribute and how well you do it, they’re more apt to think of you for things like promotions and opportunities. It’s important for you to see what’s going on with them, which is why visibility is really two-way. If you can see what your decision-makers are focusing on and what’s important to them, you’re positioned to respond to it better. It’s a classic business proposition. The week following the winter holidays is one of the most challenging times of the year for families of kids with ADHD. The excitement and intensity of the holidays, the delicious treats, late bedtimes and lazy mornings, and extra screen time sets kids up for a difficult adjustment when they return to school. For kids with ADHD, their symptoms often seem to be at their worst this week, and many will be more argumentative and oppositional than usual. As a parent, youre undoubtedly having a difficult time getting back into your own routine, and have less energy available to deal with your childs challenges. While the first few weeks in January will never be without their difficulties, there are things you can do to help them go as smoothly as possible for you and your child. Adjust Your Expectations. Your child is going to have more difficulty getting out of the house in the morning, will probably forget things that he or she needs to bring home from school, will have a hard time getting started on homework, and will have a more difficult time falling asleep at night. This is normal and to be expected! Provide your child with extra support if he or she needs it, and be patient when things dont go as planned.
